Kim Linzy was born in New Jersey and raised in Los Angeles. Her affinity for the sultry rhythms of jazz began when she was just a teenager. At the time when most kids her age were bobbing to the beats of Motown, Kim was swaying to the sounds of Eric Gale and George Duke. From then on she started to expand her knowledge of jazz.

Though she loved all types of music, especially jazz, she never thought seriously about a career in radio until after raising two children. She then went to the Columbia School of Broadcasting for two years. After moving to Las Vegas, she was a volunteer DJ at KUNV for 13 years before becoming a member of its full-time staff in 2002.
