Mondays | Freddie Jackson

Freddie JacksonBLUES & BALLADS
Freddie Jackson was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. As an adult, he lived in San Francisco, California where he really began to get into jazz music. He worked as a postmaster for most of his career, working in California, New Jersey, and Virginia.

Freddie moved to Las Vegas with his wife about 15 years ago and started volunteering at KUNV answering phones. The general manager of the station asked him if he had ever considered becoming a DJ. At first he hesitated but since he loved the music so much, he decided he would give it a shot. He has been on the air now for around six years. His favorite jazz performers are Gene Ammons, Oscar Peterson, and Ricky Woodard.

Tuesdays | Dave Rowell

Dave RowellJAZZ CLASSICS
The Basie band finished its second reprise of the ending of "April in Paris," and Dave Rowell's intense love affair with jazz had begun!

As an undergraduate at Amherst College, he hosted a late-night jazz show and worked in a music store. This led to work in commercial broadcasting; as a DJ, newsman, and announcer. After making the move to newspapers, he served as a jazz writer/reviewer, festival publicist, and occasional concert producer. He has missed only one Monterey Jazz Festival since 1973!

During a business trip to Las Vegas, while scanning for a jazz station, Dave found KUNV. When he moved here to work as a real estate broker, he naturally became a regular listener. Ultimately he responded to a call for volunteers and now thoroughly enjoys being back behind the microphone, helping straight ahead jazz to thrive.

Dave has served on the Board of Directors of the Las Vegas Jazz Society, chairing the Music/Program Committee and serving as Events Coordinator.

Wednesdays | Langston Farrow

Langston FarrowWEEKLY JAZZ COUNTDOWN
Langston Farrow was born on the Delmarva Peninsula within the state Maryland, where growing up around the tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay enhanced his love for nature and the native seafood delicacy of Blue Crabs. Playing the saxophone during his elementary and secondary education introduced him to an array of music genres, in particular jazz.

He relocated to Las Vegas from the D.C. metropolitan area, where he has been a resident since 2006. His love for radio led him to volunteer his services on the air at KUNV HD2, when later he was presented with the opportunity to host the Wednesday edition of Jazz Tradition with the Jazz Masters on KUNV.

Langston is the father of one son, an Army veteran who served as an M1A1 Tank Crewmember, and a current employee of the Federal Government. In his leisure time he works out to keep fit, loves listening to music and attending concerts, partaking in the Vegas nightlife, and being around beautiful and positive people.
