B. Recruitment Activities .
The following FCC recommended recruitment activities were engaged in during the
period covered by this Report.
1. Type of Activity:
Participation in scholarship programs designed to assist students interested in
pursuing a career in broadcasting.
Description of Scope of Activity including Positions of Station personnel
involved: In August, 2010
KUNV was able to sponsor a scholarship through the Nevada System of Higher
Education .Regents Award Program. at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
KUNV offered a scholarship which would allow us to fill a student position of
Community Relations Manager. JoAnn Kittrell, Director
of Membership and Underwriting, oversees this program. The position was
promoted through the UNLV website and through e-mails to the Journalism and
Media Studies faculty. Student applications were accepted, interviews
were held and one student was selected as the scholarship recipient.
2. Type of Activity:
Participation in other activities designed by the station employment unit
reasonably calculated to further the goal of disseminating information as to
employment opportunities in broadcasting to job candidates who might otherwise
be unaware of such opportunities.
Description of Scope of Activity including Positions of Station personnel
involved: a) KUNV hosted a recruitment table at an April, 2011
.Festival of Communities. event on the campus of UNLV which is open to both
student and community members. Michele Ferm,
KUNV volunteer, was able to explain opportunities to become involved with KUNV
HD2.
b) KUNV ran a print campaign in the student newspaper, The Rebel Yell to
recruit student broadcasting at the beginning of the spring term. Announcements
were placed each week in January and early February. Students were given
the opportunity to participate in our HD-2 broadcast station, which is operated
as part of KUNV radio. JoAnn Kittrell, Director
of Membership and Underwriting and Frank Mueller were responsible for this
campaign.

be undertaken over a two year period, provide an appropriate explanation if no
outreach was conducted during the reporting period.
